Law Office of Keith C. Glaser services include:

Estate Planning.  Estate planning is often thought of as the elderly creating a last Will and Testament to dispose of assets upon death with minimum taxation.  While that is certainly a part of any good estate plan, there is much more to it.

Wills, trusts, durable powers of attorney, living wills, and many other methods empower you to determine what happens to you, to your loved ones, and to your property.  They can be used to administer and protect assets during your lifetime.  They enable a trusted friend or family member to control your finances and health-care decisions should you become unable to, and not before.  They allow the young family with minor children to determine guardianship in case the worst were to happen.  They provide detailed instructions for the care of a parent, child, or other relative with special needs.

Litigation. Sometimes disputes don’t fall into neat little categories.  Life is complicated and that legal disputes can arise in unexpected places. Whether it be a breached contract, property that is purchased with misrepresentations, or one of life’s countless other complications, disputes can end up in court.

When disputes arise, I am happy to talk to you about your options. Sometimes problems can be resolved through negotiation and compromise. Sometimes mediation is the solution. When all else fails, sometimes a lawsuit needs to be filed. Sometimes the solution is closer than you think.

Criminal Law.  If you are charged with a crime, are being questioned by the police, or are under criminal investigation, you should enlist the assistance of a criminal defense lawyer.  While criminal defense obviously includes defense at trial, it also means making sure you never go to trial and in fact are never charged in the first place.

Time is of the essence, and the earlier in the process you retain counsel, the more valuable legal advantages can be preserved.  I will vigorously defend your rights and make sure that police officers and district attorneys follow all proper procedures.  With trial experience in the Cook County (IL) Public Defender’s Office – Juvenile Division during law school, I am familiar with drug, weapons, assault, and battery charges.

Traffic Law.  Getting a traffic ticket can be frustrating.  You may feel that it is a relatively minor ordeal, and contesting is not worth your time.  Just pay the fine and move on.  However, a moving violation has hidden consequences.  Insurance costs increase, accumulation of tickets may lead to a suspended driver’s license, and your driving record will have a blemish that you may have to explain away in the future.  Fighting your ticket can be a wise investment now to save money and time later.

"True, we build no bridges. We raise no towers. We construct no engines...There is little of all that we do which the eye of man can see. But we smooth out difficulties, we relieve stress, we correct mistakes, we take up other men's burdens and by our efforts we make possible the peaceful life of men in a peaceful state."
